Kosovo’s Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Arban Abrashi, said that the process of verification and recognition of victims of sexual violence during the conflict in Kosovo is expected to begin soon. In separate meetings with Flora Macula from the UN Women and Chrystele Todd from United Kingdom’s Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative, Abrashi spoke of the steps the government of Kosovo has taken to provide justice for the victims of sexual violence in conflict. He said the government is in the process of recruiting members to sit in the commission for verification and recognition of the status of sexual violence victims and is also working on the establishment of a support office for the purpose.
