Tahiri: Kosovo to get dialing prefix next week (RTK/Koha)
Kosovo’s Minister for Dialogue, Edita Tahiri, said the EU has decided to invite Pristina and Belgrade delegations for three-day talks in Brussels next week. She also said that the EU has told Serbia to send a letter to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) saying it agrees not to prevent Kosovo from being issued a dialing prefix. Tahiri said that there are still outstanding issues that need to be discussed regarding the telecommunication field. “Frequencies and certain licenses are some of the issues we haven’t agreed on yet and these three-day talks are expected to end in a final agreement”, Tahiri said in an interview for RTK. However, the head of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo, Marko Ɖurić, said that Kosovo can only be issued a dialing code that will function within Serbia’s territorial zone.
Kosovo authorities refuse Ɖurić permission to visit Peja/Peć (Koha)
Kosovo’s Foreign Ministry has refused the request of the head of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo, Marko Ɖurić, to visit Peja/Peć today. The Ministry’s decision came after coordination with other relevant Kosovo institutions and after Ɖurić attempt on his last visit to deflect his agenda and obstruct the Kosovo Police from carrying out its duties. Furthermore, Ɖurić’s recent statements are considered to be inflammatory and against the spirit of cooperation that Pristina and Belgrade are trying to establish through dialogue.
Nishani: Recognition of Kosovo brings stability to the region (Koha)
President of Albania, Bujar Nishani, said in his address before the UN General Assembly that recognition of Kosovo by UN member states would contribute to peace and stability in the region and beyond. “Kosovo today is recognized by 109 members of the United Nations and I am convinced that very soon other members will recognize it thus contributing to further strengthening of peace and stability”, Nishani said. He said Albania unreservedly supports and encourages dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia as a platform for resolving all outstanding issues.
Houses for Serbs in Mushtisht to be constructed in November (Kallxo)
Construction of houses in the village of Mushtisht, Suhareka for 10 Serb families will begin end of October or early November, estimates a committee of the Suhareka municipality. Mayor Sali Asllanaj said there that the process of return has to be in line with legal requirements and that the construction of houses cannot begin without a permit being issued by relevant authorities. He also said that the return of Serb families to the village is difficult for the fact that Albanian residents are not ready to receive the returnees. “Return without a welcoming atmosphere and interethnic tolerance would be really bad”, said Asllanaj.
