Villagers of Vranište in Gora protested at the site where a few days ago began the construction of hydropower plant. The construction takes place on private land on the river in the village.

Villagers of Vranište several days peacefully protest and say they are not informed of the expropriation, nor did they have access to documents. In this way, their private property is taken, say the villagers, because the work is carried out on parcels in their ownership.

For locals of Vranište, the consequences of the construction of hydroelectric power plant at the Brodska River would be disastrous.

“Nature and water are the condition for our survival, and if they take it away, we have nothing to look for,” says Adem Hoxha, MP in front of Gorani in the Assembly of Kosovo, and recalls that 17 years they seek a municipality.

“Coexistence has no alternative, we have to share this space with our Albanian neighbours, but we want to decide ourselves about our fate, within the law and the Constitution of Kosovo”.

The expropriation of private and immovable property has been completed by the decision of the Municipal Assembly of Dragas.  A few days ago works began on the construction of mini hydroelectric power station on the Brodska River.

Residents of Vranište have urged Kosovo authorities, EULEX, UNMIK, KFOR, and all those who can influence the prevention of building of the plant. Because of this problem, Gorani have announced protests in the coming days.
