There is no official document of the European Union which insists that Serbia must recognize Kosovo’s independence, said the chairman of the Delegation to the EU-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee of the EU Parliament Eduard Kukan.

Kukan says that the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina is very important and the European Parliament very seriously understands this dialogue.

He assesses the dialogue as “not particularly alive” and noted that there are direct and indirect pressures that the talks between Belgrade and Pristina continue.

“If you exclusively stick to national interests, you will not achieve anything. Compromise is necessary. No one is happy with compromise, but it is the only solution,” said Kukan.

EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Federica Mogherini is not very present in the media, but she is working on the continuation of the dialogue in order to reach a positive result for both sides and for us in the EU.
