In an interview for Deutsche Welle in Albanian, Kosovo Assembly President Kadri Veseli said that the ratification of the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro is “a matter of time” as it is in the interest of Kosovo’s sovereignty and its people. Veseli also said that Kosovo institutions will continue dialogue with Serbia although “there is resistance on the part of Serbia in implementing certain important agreements.” He however spoke of the need to intensify the dialogue so that it could serve interests of both sides and not only be used by Serbia in its European Union integration process. Veseli said the latest agreement on the dialing prefix is “a step towards strengthening the statehood of Kosovo.” Asked whether there is pressure from the international community for establishing Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities, Veseli replied: “None at all.” He said the Association/Community is an international obligation Kosovo has taken on and will finish it. Furthermore, it will not undermine Kosovo’s sovereignty, he added. Speaking about indictments against former Kosovo Liberation Army members and the special court, Veseli said: “We have willingly entered this process because our readiness to pay any price for our country and the Republic of Kosovo is great and we will remove all dilemma made on the basis of this statehood relating to the liberation and independence.” He said Kosovo leadership had plenty of arguments regarding the impunity for heinous crimes committed by Serbian forces in Kosovo “but our freedom and our country are very important for Kosovo and us.”
