Turkish flags were placed across Prizren, along with Albanian flags, on the occasion of 28th November, the Albanian Flag Day.  However, someone did not like at all this act of Prizren Municipality and between Sunday night and Monday morning removed the flags, while in early Monday hours, someone attacked the General Turkish Consulate in Prizren with Molotov cocktails, Klan Kosova reported. Few hours after the attack, authorities arrested five suspects.

Prizren chief-prosecutor Sylë Hoxha believes that the suspects who carried out the attack were inspired by folklore.  He said in Klan Kosova show ‘Info Magazine’ that the suspects were not an organized group and they were not incited by any political entity.

Hoxha said that the suspects have already admitted to have carried out the act.

“According to the information I have, they claimed the responsibility,” said Hoxha in Klan Kosova. “However, we will resume investigations and verify their past. They will face the judge on Tuesday,”Hoxha announced.

He said that he does not believe that the attack was incited by any political party.

“So far, it is not believed that the group was organized. They are young. According to the investigations, we are dealing with persons that might have been inspired by folklore to carry out this act. They were inspired by some patriotic songs, while working during the night in a pub and in euphoria carried out the act,” said Hoxha.

The attack was strongly condemned by Kosovo Foreign Ministry, President Hashim Thaçi, Prime Minister Isa Mustafa and Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli.

President Thaçi praised Kosovo Police for its swift reaction and for identification of the suspects.

Kosovo Government in its reaction considers that this ugly act aims to damage the image of Kosovo and to hurt its relation with partner countries.

Meanwhile, Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli said that such terrible act does not contribute to the excellent relations between the Albanian and Turkish communities in this municipality.

The attack was also strongly condemned by the United Kingdom Ambassador to Kosovo, Ruairi O’Connell.

Kosovo Minister for Dialogue, Edita Tahiri met in Brussels with the Director for Western Europe, Western Balkans and Turkey at the European External Action Service (EEAS) Angelina Eichhorst, the online version of this broadcaster reported.

According to a press release issued by the Office of Prime Minister, Tahiri and Eichhorsst discussed the progress and the results of the dialogue during this year. They agreed that all agreements which are pending implementation should be effectively implemented by all sides.

“It was also stressed that during the two days of trilateral meetings which will start on Tuesday in Brussels, all parties should demonstrate a constructive approach to fulfil their obligations in relation to the judiciary and the state dial code,” reads the release.

Minister Tahiri, according to the press release, stated that the implementation of the agreements is essential for the success of the dialogue and therefore Kosovo is committed to their implementation.

Electoral campaign in Gllogoc/Glogovac officially opened

(KTV)

Electoral mayoral campaign in Gllogoc/Glogovac was officially opened on Monday.  Mayoral elections will be held on 04 December while four candidates are running for Mayor’s post.  Candidates were having public gatherings before the official launch of the campaign but as of Monday they will campaign with the support and participation of their respective party leaders’, KTV reported.

On the other hand, Albert Krasniqi of Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) summarized the activities of political parties on the official opening of the electoral campaign, the online version of KTV reported.

He said that there were many children, many state officials and only few women. He also noted that majority of the promises were not linked at all with the local level.

“We are concluding the observation of the official launch of the electoral campaign in Gllogoc/Glogovac with the PDK gathering. In all gatherings that we observed today, we noted the big presence of children, small participation of women, big participation of state officials and promises for big changes (that were not linked with the local level). Looking forward on the remaining days of the electoral campaign,” wroite Krasniqi.

Moreover, Krasniqi said that the electoral amendment should also include the election of the Mayor and deputy mayor at the same time. In case the Mayor loses his mandate, the deputy-mayor would continue it.

“Having elections for a less than a year of mandate, is senseless’, concluded Krasniqi.
