Kosovo Police reacted harshly to the untrue statement of Milovan Drečun, MP at Serbian Parliament and member of the Serbian Progressive Party, that ROSU (Kosovo Police Special Unit) uses terrorist methods, that they are a destabilizing factor, who set explosives on the railway in northern Kosovo and recorded videos afterwards.

“Kosovo Police is an institution which implements the law and it has for its mandate safeguarding of order and public safety, security in general, including the control and supervision of the borders of the state.

On the case of the announcement of the movement of the train from Serbia to the Republic of Kosovo, on 14.01.2017, Kosovo Police has undertaken all actions in accordance with the Constitution of Kosovo, laws in power and operational plan, in order to guarantee the constitutional order, general security, in the concrete case, prevent movement of the illegal train to the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.

As we have explained previously, we are once again clarifying the situation created after the announcements and publication of different information in Serbian media that an explosive device was set (mining the railway) in the territory of Kosovo. Kosovo Police has undertaken action with all its relevant police units, using logistic means and equipment in order to identify and clarify the created situation, however there was no explosive device on and along the railway in the territory of the Republic of Kosovo,” says the press release, issued by the police.

“Kosovo Police once again strongly denies Milovan Drečun’s and the other Serbian political officials’ allegations that Kosovo citizens and Kosovo Police have set explosive device in order to prevent the train from entering Kosovo, and assesses that these statements are misinformation and untrue.

Kosovo Police remains determined in fulfillment of all its legal and constitutional duties and obligations.

Therefore, we consider that the public opinion should be informed in a rightful and correct manner, and in no case should it be misinformed as is the concrete case of Mr. Drečun and some Serbian media,” notes the Kosovo Police press release.
