The Foreign Minister of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, said in an interview for the Serbian news portal, N1, that Pristina has good official relations with Sarajevo and that he is a good friend with his Bosnian counterpart. “I think that the matter of non-recognition of Kosovo by Bosnia and Herzegovina is less related to Sarajevo and more to Belgrade. I would like to see an independent foreign policy in Bosnia. And the manner that Kosovo is treated is a good parameter to see how independent Bosnia’s foreign policy is,” Hoxhaj said.
“I could never understand Sarajevo’s decision to establish visa regime for Kosovo, and I was forced a few years ago to undertake reciprocal measures. I would like to appeal to the friends in Sarajevo and tell them that this is wrong. We impose visa regimes for our citizens in the 21st century… and to think that we have a situation where Bosnians face problems to come to Kosovo that they have to wait for days at our embassies in Zagreb, Skopje or Podgorica. Or, that Kosovans have to wait for days for a Bosnian visa, is something that I really do not understand in 2017,” Hoxhaj said.
Speaking about the establishment of the Association for Serb-majority Municipalities, Hoxhaj said that he does not want establishment of a new Republika Srpska in Kosovo, but to establish Association based on Brussels Agreement, in order for Serbs to have a body which supports and coordinates them, which could improve their lives and help them integrate in Kosovo structures. “I have said this in the past as well, because some people in Belgrade sometimes give a narration which is harmful for establishment of this Association. It will not have any executive power, it should establish within Kosovo’s internal legal system and it should help Serbs to be part of Kosovo and promote through it multi-ethnicity of the state and our society,” Hoxhaj said.
