Mustafa calls for unity within LDK

(All monitored broadcasters, KTV)

Kosovo Prime Minister and LDK Chairperson, Isa Mustafa said that LDK is not afraid from the opposition’s no-confidence motion.

“We should be afraid from our own motion, because we, at LDK should be united. If we are united, then there is no reason to be worried from any type of request, or political initiative, because as we stand now, even if we have elections tonight, we will win,” said PM Mustafa.

PM Mustafa said that decision should be taken to enable visa liberalisation to Kosovo citizens.

“These decisions belong to LDK. We will take those decisions jointly and there will be no division. We should take decision on visa liberalisation and end the isolation of Kosovo citizen,” said PM Mustafa.

But the main opposition party, Vetëvendosje Movement (VV) expressed its confidence that Assembly will not ratify the Agreement on Border Demarcation with Montenegro and that the Government will be overthrown.

“It is not only VV and opposition parties that are against the current version of Demarcation, but there are even MPs of the ruling coalition who oppose it. I am confident that demarcation, together with this irresponsible Government, will not pass,” VV caucus leader Glauk Konjfuca said.  He did not want to comment the ways how they will oppose demarcation in the Assembly.

All broadcasters reported that the Government of Kosovo, through a press release issued, announced that on Monday it will review the Agreement on Border Demarcation with Montenegro and submit it to the Assembly. The meeting of the Government is scheduled for Monday at 10:00 in the morning, Klan Kosova reported, whereas the time when the Assembly will have demarcation in its agenda is not known yet.

Kosovo Assembly Speaker and PDK Chairperson, Kadri Veseli said that he is waiting for Prime Minister Isa Mustafa to proceed the Agreement on Border Demarcation with Montenegro for ratification at the Assembly.  Veseli said that PDK will ensure the votes of its MPs for ratification of Demarcation.

He said that the session on demarcation will be held before the planned session of no confidence motion, scheduled for Wednesday.

On the other hand, Behar Selimi, a former PDK MP and current Deputy Minister of Interior expressed his confidence that the majority of ruling coalition MPs will vote against the no confidence motion initiated by opposition parties.

U.S: Kosovo Government to conclude several issues before elections

(Klan Kosova)

As a reaction to reports that Kosovo might have early elections soon, the U.S Embassy to Prishtinë/Pristina highlighted a series of obligations to the ruling coalition which need to be concluded without delays.

Spokesperson of the US Embassy Prishtinë/Pristina, J.Michelle Schohn said that Kosovo leaders should be focused in achieving the main goals.

“Such as strengthening the rule of law, facilitating foreign and local investments, ratification of Agreement on Border Demarcation with Montenegro, adoption of the Law on Freedom of Religion, normalization of relations with Serbia through dialogue, including the launch of the process for the establishment of the Association of Serb Majority Municipalities,” Schohn told news portal ‘arbresh.info’.

She stressed that the current Assembly and Government should address these issues without any further delays.

Assembly’s financial non-transparency

(KTV)

By not publishing the financial reports in the official webpage, Kosovo Assembly is hiding its financial expenses for the last three months of 2016, KTV reported.

On 27 March, KTV requested from the Assembly financial manager and Secretary an answer why the financial reports have not been published, but even after a month they have not provided any answer.  Expenses of the Assembly Speaker and MPs for salaries, per diems and official visits abroad have not been published since October 2016.  Assembly has not published also the financial expenses for the first three months of 2017.

Through a written response, the Secretary of the Assembly, Ismet Krasniqi, said that this report will be published after it will be reviewed by Assembly Budget and Finance Committee and the Assembly Presidency.

On the other hand, Safete Hadërgjonaj, chairperson of Budget and Finance Committee, said that financial report for the last three months of 2016 has been reviewed by the Committee, but it was not published.

Vetëvendosje MP, Shqipe Pantina says that the non-publication of financial reports is unacceptable.

Monitors of the work of Kosovo Assembly have also criticized this institution. They consider that the non-publication of financial reports demonstrates the non-transparency of the Assembly.

Assembly monitors expressed their concerns with the fact no political party raised this issue at the Assembly sessions.
