Haradinaj and Mustafa clash in distance

(KTV)

Clashes in distance between the PDK-AAK-Nisma coalition candidate for Prime Minister, Ramush Haradinaj, and the leaving Prime Minister Isa Mustafa went on.

Haradinaj said that no one at the state administration will be forced out of his job on party basis, but all those who do not do their job as requested are at risk.

Haradinaj responded to LDK accusations that he is blackmailing and threatening people employed in public administration. He reiterated that they cannot keep the country hostage to any bureaucracy.

However, the reaction of leaving PM Isa Mustafa was immediate. Through a post in Facebook, Mustafa said that reforms in administration are not done with blackmails and coercive measures, but with detailed analyses and concrete projects.

Ymeri cancels Kurti’s arrest warrant, judge denies

The election list of Vetëvendosje will be led by the candidate of this party for Prime Minister, Albin Kurti. Vetëvendosje chairperson, Visar Ymeri, said that this is the list of victory in 11 June elections.

“Today, the ousted authority has stepped back. The arrest warrant for Albin Kurti has been cancelled today. Congratulations to all, this is a great victory of the resistance,” Ymeri said.

But, this was denied for KTV by Judge Beqir Kalludra. He said that he has not taken any decision about this case.

Serbian Prime Minister and President-elect, Aleksandar Vucic, received in Belgrade the candidates of Srpska List for Members of Kosovo Assembly.

Serbian officials said that MPs of this List guarantee that establishment of Kosovo Army or implementation of projects at the harm of the Serbs will not be allowed.

Minister of Labour and Social Issues, Aleksandar Vulin, said that Kosovo Army does not exist today thanks to Srpska List.

Ivanovic: Division of Kosovo Serbs suits enemies

(Most monitored broadcasters, KTV)

Leader of SDP Civic Initiative, Oliver Ivanovic, considers as a bad thing the fact that Serbs will run with six lists in 11 June elections. He added that division suits the enemies of Serbs.

“A very hard life is ahead of us, a difficult battle to preserve peace and stability for Serbs. This cannot be done by the weak politicians. It cannot be done only by the youth who have the energy, but it is necessary to have people with clear visions and experience. This prevents them from making mistakes, and in politics in Kosovo mistakes can be catastrophic,” Ivanovic warned.

Expatriates face difficulties registering as voters for 11 June elections

(KTV)

Many voters from diaspora were not able to submit their registration for application by email at the Kosovo Central Election Commission (CEC), because their emails were not delivered.

Mentor Loshi and Jeta Rudi are two out of many expatriates who have faced difficulties in applying to vote from abroad at the CEC. Fortesa Bytyqi faced the same problem, too.  Bytyqi, through a Facebook post, requested from CEC officials to enable application for Kosovo diaspora.

However, in its last announcement the CEC stated that all emails are functional now. Despite the difficulties faced, CEC called on expatriates to get mobilized and submit their applications by the midnight of 22 May.

Due to the great interest of Kosovo diaspora to vote by-mail on 11 June early elections, Vetëvendosje Movement requested extension of deadline to 25 May.

In its request addressed to CEC, Vetëvendosje said that registration period from 15 to 22 May is not sufficient for expatriates to get informed, prepare and submit the necessary documents.

KTV could not get an answer from the CEC chairperson, Valdete Daka, or the CEC spokesperson if the registration deadline will be extended following the reported issues.

Women discriminated in job vacancies

(KTV)

‘Leads’, ‘manages’, ‘ensures’, ‘monitors’ and ‘analyses’ are some of the words used in different job vacancies, be them in public of private sector, which do not specify the gender, however, since there are male stereotypes in them, women feel inferior to apply.

According to a research of GAP Institute, this language of vacancies is also determined by the fact that women are not stimulated for different job positions, since these descriptions imply that the job position is for a male person.

Jeton Mehmeti of GAP Institute says it is true that there are divisions between men and women occupations; therefore the number of employed women is very low. According to him, the word ‘woman’ in Kosovo implies only engagement at home. He says that this happens due to traditional division of occupations for men and women.

Executive Director of Kosovar Centre for Gender Studies, Luljeta Demolli, says that both sectors are not in favour of encouraging employment of women and that denomination which are made on vacancy requests, according to her, demonstrate discrimination of women.
