Deputy Kosovo Interior Minister Milan Radojević says that Kosovo border police, at some crossings, do not recognize Serbian documents.
Radojević told Kontakt plus radio that dozens of citizens with these documents, late last and early this month, submitted a complaint to the Kosovo Ministry of Internal Affairs because they were refused entry to or exit from Kosovo towards central Serbia but also FYROM.
He added that he asked the police what the legal basis for such a decision is, and that the Director General of Police said that this was in line with the Brussels agreement on freedom of movement from 2011.
-In my personal opinion, any decision to ban the entry or exit to or from Kosovo to central Serbia or to FYROM is illegal – Radojević said to the radio and added that the international representatives in Kosovo – EU Office, EULEX and the US Embassy in Kosovo – have opined that there is no legal act which prohibits these documents: ID cards, passports issued by the Coordination Directorate and driving licenses.
Radojević said that these documents cannot be invalid, because otherwise there would be a paradoxical situation, people may use them to vote in the elections but they cannot enter Kosovo.
He also stressed that is a “very serious issue that directly affects the freedom of movement of people in Kosovo and the return of displaced persons” and may directly affect the results of the elections.
