Election results may be published this week

 (Most monitored broadcasters, RTK1)

Conditional ballot counting has reached municipality 16, which means that Rahovec/Orahovac municipality is in the counting process. The Count and Result Centre officials believe that the process will be completed on Wednesday.

Most of conditional ballots were cast at big municipalities such as Pejë/Pec, Podujevë/Podujevo, Prizren, Prishtinë/Pristina, and Ferizaj/Urosevac.

Like in the regular voting process, a considerable number of invalid conditional ballots have been found also, some of them having been intentionally damaged.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) chairperson Valdete Daka said that if there will not be complaints submitted to the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP), June 11 election results may be officially published and certified within this week.

LDK to decide about possible coalitions after election certification

 (RTK1)

Pal Lekaj of AAK, a political party in coalition with PDK and Nisma, confirmed to RTK that they have been negotiating with LDK-AKR coalition to constitute government.

VV officials, on the other hand, keep reiterating that they would prefer to enter a governmental coalition with LDK.

However, LDK officials said they would wait for final election result certification, before taking any decision for a possible coalition. This was stated on Tuesday by LDK vice chairman, Agim Veliu. According to Veliu, LDK will not necessarily insist to enter government, and added that the party is not going to become a supporting leg to anybody.

This was reinforced by LDK vice chairman Lutfi Haziri. Haziri told RTK’s Image show that no cooperation whatsoever between LDK and PDK and its allies was possible.

Sami Kurteshi of VV also confirmed that if LDK does not agree to enter a coalition, VV does not rule out the possibility of staying in opposition.

US Department of State: Kosovo insufficiently combatting human trafficking

 (Most monitored broadcasters, Klan Kosova)

The US Department of State report published on Tuesday reads that Kosovo Government failed to comply with minimal standards for eliminating trafficking, but it has made significant efforts in this respect. The report highlights that in 2016, more efforts were made in identifying victims and in prosecuting and arresting traffickers.

However, the report reads that a decline has been marked in allocating funds to NGOs in the area of combating trafficking, while involvement of state officials in trafficking remains a great concern.

Kosovo has also increased its efforts in Anti-trafficking law, and some achievements have been marked in the victim protection area.

The US Department of State recommends Kosovo to investigate, prosecute, and arrest traffickers and those who are involved in such cases.

Kosovo Serbs facing serious issues with personal documents

 (RTK2)

For 17 years, Serbs in Kosovo have been facing a serious issue concerning their documents, particularly in terms of their driver licenses and identity cards issued by police departments of Kosovo towns displaced in Serbia.

Another issue the citizens are facing is travelling by passports issued by the Coordination Council.

The solution will to a great extent depend on the institutions in Prishtinë/Pristina and on the international community. This was the conclusion drawn on a conference held on this topic.
