Pristina took no formal steps to submit its request for UNESCO membership before this UN organization, Novosti daily reported referring to “diplomatic cycles.”

The UNESCO General Assembly conference takes place in November, and one month prior to it, a session is hold where decisions on whether to forward requests to the General Assembly or not are made. According to unofficial sources Kosovo would not stand better chances than it was the case two years ago.

Kosovo’s position is also hampered with internal struggle within UNESCO as to who will be a new Secretary General of the Organization, so the main focus is given to it.

Meanwhile, Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dacic stated to RTS Kosovo will never enter UNESCO thanking to Serbia’s friends.

Dacic made this remark while opening the XVIII Congress of the International Federation of Study Latin America and the Caribbean at the University of John Naisbitt, mentioning some of the great Latin American counters that have not recognized the independence of Kosovo.
