Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic will take part in the US-Adriatic Charter meeting on Wednesday in Podgorica, Montenegro, the Serbian Government has announced, B92 reported.
While in Podgorica, Brnabic will hold a bilateral meeting with US Vice President Michael Pence, while her participation in the working session “will be an opportunity to discuss issues of common interest and exchange views on how to further improve regional, European and global stability.”
According to the statement published on the Serbian Government’s website, Brnabic will also “point out the consistent commitment of Serbia to the preservation of regional peace and stability, and that all outstanding issues with neighbors can be resolved through dialogue and compromise solutions,” while “sustainable stability, reconciliation, implementation of reform processes and strengthening of interconnection are key preconditions for economic recovery and development as well as achievement of the European standards.”
The US-Adriatic Charter – the Partnership Charter between the United States and Albania, Croatia, Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro (A5) – was established in 2003, and its main goal is to “strengthen regional security and safety, with the support of the United States to countries of the region that are trying to meet standards for admission to NATO,” the government observed.
Serbia has been an observer status since December 2008 – “and is not its member due to its policy of military neutrality.”
