Vetevendosje’s candidate for Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, said today that the PDK-AAK-NISMA coalition is trying to create a majority in parliament by forming a government that will depend on Belgrade’s policy vis-à-vis Kosovo and buying off certain MPs by damaging state-building and democracy in Kosovo. Kurti said Vetevendosje MPs would attend the constitutive session of the new Assembly on Thursday but that they will not vote in favor of Kadri Veseli’s eventual nomination as Assembly President. “On Thursday, the Kosovo Assembly should elect as President a comprehensive and not a controversial figure. This MPs that will become President of the sixth legislative should be far better than the previous Assembly President. We will certainly not vote in favor of Veseli,” he added. Kurti also talked about meetings with Quint ambassadors that focus on the challenges of the constitutive session and the positions and ideas of Vetevendosje if they are in government. “As Vetevendosje representatives, we highlight the importance of partnership with Western countries, especially with the United States of America and Germany,” he said. Kurti also said that “the international factor no longer has political barriers for Vetevendosje to form a new government”.
