The new government of Kosovo, led by Ramush Haradinaj, is certain that Montenegro is ready to review the border demarcation agreement and at the same time is ready to explain allegations of mistakes in the border delineation. Muharrem Nitaj, a spokesman for Haradinaj’s political party, told the news website: “the issue of the state demarcation committee is an internal matter of Kosovo and has nothing to do with any other state. I don’t understand why a neighboring country has to be informed or consulted about this”. Nitaj predicts that Montenegro will be ready to review the agreement, because this would serve the interests of both countries. “I trust it is our obligation to explain all allegations about mistakes made in the process. Kosovo is not trying to take away a single centimeter of land from someone else. I believe Montenegro too will be ready to review the agreement and to eliminate the mistakes that were made,” he said. Asked to comment on a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in Pristina saying that they do not support a different version of the demarcation, Nitaj said people were misinterpreting the U.S. position. Nitaj also said the findings of the new border committee will be presented to the Kosovo government and assembly.
