The portal has published a part from the interview with Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, where he says that initiative to abolish the Law on Special Court was an alternative and in no case escape from justice.
In this interview which will be published in complete on 1 January, Thaci said he has read the draft request of around 50 MPs of Kosovo Assembly and according to him, the request does not challenge or endanger justice. “It is an alternative which enables treating of all war crimes in Kosovo, as it happened in all other countries of former Yugoslavia, such as Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. MPs are elected by population and their initiative is constitutional, legal and regular procedurally. We have had such initiatives in the past,” Thaci said.
He added that he will respect any decision of the Assembly of Kosovo and he will commence his duty by signing it.
“I assessed ever since 2015 that establishment of the Special Court is a historic injustice. If it were an initiative against justice, I would be the first one to object it,” Thaci said.
