Kosovo’s President, Hashim Thaci, told Indeksonline that creation of Kosovo’s Armed Force is on its final phase. Thaci also said that the border demarcation with Montenegro, was commenced in a rightful manner, delineation is precise and confirmed by local and international commissions. According to Thaci, Kosovo-Serbia dialogue is the only and irreplaceable mechanism to resolve Kosovo’s internal problems.
Asked about the initiative of Kosovo Assembly MPs to abolish the Law on Specialist Chambers, Thaci said the initiative represents an alternative, but it is in no manner escape from justice. “This has to be clear. I read the draft-request of the MPs. It is not a request that challenges justice or endangers it, but an alternative which enables treatment of all war crimes in Kosovo. It happened so in all former-Yugoslav countries, be it in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina or in Serbia. MPs are elected by people and their initiative is constitutional, legal and procedurally regular. We have had such initiatives in the past. Therefore, I respect any decision of the Assembly of Kosovo, I will commence my duty and sign it. Ever since 2015, I assessed creation of a Special Court to be a historic injustice. If it was an initiative against justice, I would have been the first one to oppose it,” Thaci said.
