Government does not accept Serbia’s involvement on Ivanovic’s case (RFE, Koha)

The government of Kosovo does not accept involvement of Serbia’s state bodies on the investigations that are taking place relevant to the murder of former leader of the Civic Initiative “Freedom, Democracy, Justice” Oliver Ivanovic.

Halil Matoshi from the cabinet of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, said Serbia has not sent any official request to be involved on investigations.  However, he added that “no one from outside has the right to interfere on internal matters of the Republic of Kosovo, except for the relevant local and international mechanisms, who are authorized to ensure a safe environment in Kosovo.

And in order to remove dilemma, the Prime Minister has eventually invited FBI to be part of the investigations,” Matoshi said.

Kosovo authorities are continuing with the investigations of the case. Besim Hoti, Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police in Mitrovica North, told Radio Free Europe that the police are currently working on verification of the information that could shed light on the case. “The investigation is ongoing with authorizations of the respective prosecutors of the case and working group of police investigators, who are in the phase of processing the data they are constantly collecting since the incident, ” Hoti said.

The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, had on Wednesday a telephone conversation with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, on the case.

“President Thaci assured President Vucic that respective bodies of the prosecution and police are commencing intensive investigation to find and bring in front of justice those who committed this murder,” is written on Thaci’s Facebook profile.
