President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, has presented former UNMIK chief Bernard Kouchner with a medal for his contribution to Kosovo during the post-conflict and state-building period. In a Facebook post, Thaci wrote: “Together with the former French head of diplomacy and former UNMIK chief, Bernard Kouchner, we reminisced about the post war and state building period in Kosovo. We built institutions on the war rubble with great sacrifice, we created preconditions for recovery and managed the security situation. Now, 19 years on, we agreed that the state building was successful while the future needs to be built on the foundation of the past successes.”
