Member of the Presidency of the Serbian National Forum (SNF), Momcilo Trajkovic, said in TV Show ‘Slobodno Srpski’ (Free Serbian) that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic need to give up his current policy towards Kosovo, and that SNF representatives have told him that personally, in a meeting month ago, reports KIM radio.
“We are demanding of him to stop promising to finally resolve the status of Kosovo, because Serbia today is not in a position to solve the problem of the final status of Kosovo and that it’s in our national and state interests. Our task was to tell him that there are Serbs and that most people think the way we speak, who disagree with the policy that Kosovo should be finally resolved today, because that in fact leads to the independence of Kosovo,” said Trajkovic.
Asked why the President of Serbia is in hurry to resolve the issue of Kosovo, Trajkovic said that it was probably because previously assumed obligations imposed by the West.
Trajkovic believes that the Vucic’s proposal on Kosovo, which he announced for the end of March or the beginning of April, will be a referendum.
“I do not believe that anyone in Serbia would dare to alone, even if it is the President of the Republic of Serbia, announce a position and to say – this is a solution, it is obvious that this will go towards a referendum. The referendum is something desirable at this moment, but conditions must be created, because referendums may be this or that. What will be the questions, who is organizing the referendum, whether there is enough democracy, what the voter lists are, and much more so that they can guarantee that the referendum would be democratic and that it makes the right decision,” he said.
Trajkovic said, in reference to the increasingly frequent writing of the media about the division of Kosovo, that it was not realistic and says that that it would be a disaster, “that for the north of Kosovo is given the south of Serbia, and the essence for which the Serbs are fighting for, when Kosovo and Metohija is at stake, is below the Ibar river, this here, the so-called myth of Kosovo. Below the Ibar and not above the Ibar.”
Trajkovic said that Patriarch Irinej himself expressed fear for the future of Kosovo. After a recent meeting of the members of the SNF, Trajkovic said that it was hard for Patriarch when he heard that there would be “painful cuts”, that a compromise would be made, and so on, as well as that he had wondered what stands behind that, but that he had hope.
Trajkovic said that the Church and Patriarch Irinej fully supported SNF attitudes and project.
Trajkovic announced that the Serbian National Forum will be organizing another one in a series of roundtables titled “Kosovo and Metohija: Change of Politics or …” on February 7, 2018. And for the first time will attend Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric and the representatives of the Serbian List.
According to Trajkovic, SNF was ready to support Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, but under certain conditions.
“We are his rescue belt. If he abandons the Brussels Agreement and the path that leads towards independence, we are ready to support such a policy. “
Trajkovic said that he was still working on his book he announced a few years ago, under the working title “Who Betrayed Kosovo”.
“Since the betrayal is still on-going, I would not want to finish it, without first seeing who is the greatest traitor about the issue of Kosovo and Metohija,” said Momcilo Trajkovic in the “Slobodno srpski” TV Show.
