Several online media report on an increased police presence at the Jarinje border crossing point in northern Kosovo to prevent a visit by Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo Director Marko Djuric. Unnamed sources told Pristina-based Kosovapress news agency that around 40 members of Kosovo Police are stationed at the border crossing. “There are many police officers. There are additional vehicles of Kosovo’s border police and the operation is led by Mentor Shabani,” sources said. Djuric together with Nikola Selakovic, the secretary general of the Serbian President, have announced they will attend a discussion on “The position of Serbs in Kosovo” which will be held in Mitrovica. Kosovo’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not grant permission for Djuric’s visit. Indeksonline reports that Kosovo Police special units have deployed to northern Kosovo and are on standby in the event of any emergency.
