The Ministry of Internal Affairs, namely the Department of Citizenship, Asylum and Migration, states that it has revoked residence permits for Turkish citizens on the basis of its mandate to implement the law on foreigners.
“Referring to concrete cases, the Department for Citizenship, Asylum and Migration has acted on the basis of the Law on Foreigners and the mandate for reviewing and deciding on all the requests regarding residence permits,” the notice reads.
According to the MUP this is a legal procedure which has been applied in previous cases, both for foreigners with residence permits, as well as for foreigners who have acquired Kosovo citizenship and have been revoked for security reasons or other procedures foreseen by the relevant law.
“Therefore, as a competent body, during the administration of the evidence we have ascertained that for the persons in question, there is sufficient legal basis to take measures for revoking their residence permit in the territory of the Republic of Kosovo for reasons determined by the law on foreigners , specifically Article 6 of the law, which refers to the refusal or revocation of the residence permit for state security circumstances, “reads the notice.
After issuing the decision to revoke the residence permit, Kosovo Police has been notified as the competent body for the execution of these decisions. After the revocation of the residence permit, the further residence of these citizens is considered illegal.
“The dissatisfied parties have the right to appeal against the revocation decision to the competent court according to the law on administrative procedure”, reads the announcement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
