Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic says that the upcoming meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel will be extremely important for the future of Serbia, but that he does not expect a change in Germany’s relationship towards the Kosovo issue, reports NMagazin.

Responding to the question of whether he expects Angela Merkel to condemn statements by Kosovo representatives on possible conflict with Serbia, Vucic said that he does not expect an individual condemnation, nor the German chancellor does this, but he hopes a greater understanding for Serbia, although with regard to the independence, they have different attitudes.

“People in Serbia should not expect too much. If you think that we will change the attitude of the United States or Germany towards the independence of Kosovo, it would be lying of the people. But I will fight to get something more for our people. I will not sleep, and I will not kneel, I will continue to struggle, but it is not realistic to expect us to command large forces,” Vucic said in Mostar, after meeting with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

On the occasion of Kosovo President Hashim Thaci’s statement that Kosovo will respond to threats from Serbia as 19 years ago – with guns, Vucic said that he would appeal in the talks with US representative, to explain to those that they’ve created, that the destabilization of the situation was not in anybody’s interest.
