Diplomatic sources of Danas and international relations experts do not exclude completely the possibility of Serbia changing the foreign policy course, but they assess that Belgrade will endeavour in maintaining the current position of balancing between the West and Russia.

According to interlocutors of Danas, any changes in foreign policy will depend largely on the next phase of resolving the Kosovo issue.

Danas writes that Belgrade’s non consent to the West’s plan for resolving the Kosovo issue would not push Belgrade towards Moscow, as it would damage the Serbian economy, and that the Serbian authorities are aware of it.

Igor Novakovic, director of the ISAC fund survey, told Danas that a shift in the foreign policy course of Serbia is possible, “but first of all, it depends on the speed of resolving the issue of Kosovo.”

– Maintaining a permanent atmosphere of conflict opens the way for the entry of “third countries” in Serbia. However, even in this case, there will be many challenges, because since 2014, the position of certain countries that have influence on us has changed greatly, says Novakovic.

According to unofficial information of the daily Danas, the Serbian authorities are waiting for an official proposal from the Quint on resolving the Kosovo issue in the coming month – the United States, Great Britain, Germany, France and Italy, and that the West wants Kosovo’s issue to be solved by the model of the two Germany, which would include Pristina’s membership in the UN.
