Gorani Civic Initiative (GIG) proposed to the Serbian Government negotiations team and EU High Representative Federica Mogherini to provide status of the district to the Gora area, as it is the case with the Brcko District in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbian media reported.
This area is mainly populated by Gorani community, and the status of a district would mean ensuring stability and peace.
The Initiative added that in finding the final and lasting solution for the Kosovo issue, it is the most important to take care of the interests of all ethnic communities, in order to provide for a lasting peace and mutual co-existence.
“For Gorani community, as a specific ethnic community, it is very important to preserve their identity and develop economy through the status of the district, in particular cattle breeding, agriculture and tourism,” GIG said in a press release.
