The European Union High Representative, Federica Mogherini, told reporters in Luxembourg today that the latest round of talks between Kosovo and Serbia Presidents, Hashim Thaci and Aleksandar Vucic, was “difficult but encouraging”. “We had a very good meeting yesterday between Belgrade and Pristina. It was quite difficult but encouraging,” Mogherini said as she was entering the meeting of EU Foreign Ministers. “The Western Balkans now needs the European Union to be stable and deliver on its promises,” she said. Mogherini also noted that “visible progress” was made in the region, highlighting the agreement between Skopje and Athens on the name dispute. She also said she expects EU Foreign Ministers to accept the recommendations of the European Commission to initiate membership negotiations with Albania and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
