According to Belgrade based daily Vecernje Novosti, the task of EEAS Director Angelina Eichhorst will be to accelerate and intensify talks between representatives of Serbian authorities and provisional institutions in Kosovo, as well as the implementation of the agreements reached.

The Director of the Department for Western Europe, the Western Balkans and Turkey in the EU Foreign Service will be the key mediator in the next phase of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, reports the daily in today’s edition.

According to daily, she will be in constant contact with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo President Hashim Thaci in the coming months, following the principle of “shuttle diplomacy” by traveling to the Brussels-Belgrade-Pristina and trying to reconcile the positions of the two sides.

She mediated last weekend in technical agreements between negotiators of Belgrade and Pristina, Marko Djuric and Avni Arifi, and Novosti emphasize that by taking the new role she will practically introduce the dialogue into a new phase, which has been announced for a long time.
