The government of Kosovo is expected to apply this month for observer status with the World Trade Organisation, said officials at the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Head of the Ministry’s Trade Department, Sytrime Devisholli said the observer status will last five years during which time Kosovo needs to fulfil a certain number of criteria to be able to fully join the organization. Dervisholli said that by becoming part of WTO, Kosovo will not only attract foreign investment but will also be able to swiftly resolve trade barriers.
