Vetevendosje leader, Albin Kurti, has suggested five points for the Kosovo Assembly on dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade. Kurti argues in a Facebook post that “the Assembly should not talk about the new dialogue, because MPs have not even discussed ‘the old’ dialogue. We should not rush into new dialogue with Serbia without discussing the premises, process, agreements, implementation and the results of the 2011 – 2017 dialogue”. Kurti says the Assembly should not discuss the flow of the new dialogue, “without the government first explaining why we need this dialogue now and what it means. This should also include explanations for terms like ‘full normalization’, ‘normalization’, ‘a legally binding agreement’, ‘painful compromise’ and so on”. Kurti further suggests that Kosovo should present official demands to Serbia and that the Kosovo Assembly must first discuss and adopt Kosovo’s demands. He recalls that the Constitutional Court ruled that the key agreement reached in Brussels on the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities, was in opposition with 23 articles of Kosovo’s constitution. “Shouldn’t we be discussing the political, institutional and moral responsibility of the stakeholders? The same Kosovo officials and politicians that are insisting on the new phase of dialogue are more or less the same ones that supported the Association,” Kurti writes. In closing, the Vetevendosje leader notes that President [Hashim Thaci] started the new dialogue with Serbia by ignoring the character of the parliamentary republic. “The President should not be an informer. The Kosovo Assembly … must address the President’s personal adventure and take a position on his actions without mandate and his behavior without integrity,” Kurti concludes.
