Fatmir Limaj, leader of the Social Democratic Initiative and Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, said today that the final phase of dialogue with Serbia has not begun yet and that political parties in Kosovo have enough time to reach a broad-based consensus. “We have enough time to meet and draft a platform, to harmonize a joint position and a formula that will incorporate a broad-based consensus among political parties so that we can be best-prepared for the finale. Dialogue so far has not produced results because it has lacked transparency. The time has come to meet and discuss seriously on what awaits us,” Limaj said. He also said that gone is the time when one person talked on Kosovo’s behalf. “A good agreement is useful for our country, but a bad agreement would be forever detrimental. The Kosovo Assembly must not assume an observing role. We cannot stand aside and say let’s hope they are wrong, because our country will have to pay for the mistakes. Now is a good time to find the formula of representation and a formula of principles and to be ready to conclude this process … The Assembly should not discuss on rumors from the outside.”
