Atifete Jahjaga, former President of Kosovo, reacted today to the recent double murder in Gjakova, saying that women in Kosovo lack security at work and in school and even in their own families. Jahjaga said the double murder in Gjakova happened “because the system allowed it”. “Such murders are made possible by a system that allows for such atrocities; calls for help have run into def fears … Women in Kosovo are not safe at work and in school, and now even in their own families. How many more lives must be lost before the system assumes its responsibility,” Jahjaga said.
