Carlos Martin, spokesman for the European Commission, said in Brussels today that a permanent solution means a realistic, sustainable and possible solution in compliance with international law, agreed upon by Pristina and Belgrade. Asked if the European Commission supports the position of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic for a division between Albanians and Serbs in Kosovo, Martin said that Vucic and Kosovo President Hashim Thaci had “intensive and productive talks on the framework of the agreement for the full normalization of relations and they agreed to intensify work”. He also said that on July 18, Vucic and Thaci discussed the progress achieved so far and agreed to meet again in early September. “The EU-facilitated dialogue aims to achieve permanent cooperation between the two sides and to help them make progress in their path toward Europe,” Martin added.
