Former Prime Minister of Albania, Sali Berisha, welcomed today German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s statement against ideas for border changes in the Balkans. “The position of the Chancellor must be hailed as a real contribution to peace and stability in the region. This is a merited response to efforts by Belgrade and its servants in Pristina to create Greater Serbia and for the new partition of Kosovo, undoing the victory of Kosovo Albanians and NATO against Milosevic’s Serbia, violating all international acts on Kosovo’s territorial integrity, violating the resolutions of the UN General Assembly and the Security Council, and the Ahtisaari Plan,” Berisha said. Several news websites note that Berisha’s remarks are aimed at Kosovo President Hashim Thaci.
