American geopolitician and a founder of Stratfor Agency George Friedman opined for Danas daily what would be an ideal solution to resolve the Kosovo issue.

According to him, the ideal solution would be that Belgrade and Pristina reach a direct agreement without involvement of a third party. He also thinks it is important for Serbia to resolve this issue as soon as possible and “move ahead.”

“I think, since Serbian borders were changed during the war, there is no reason for current borders to be considered as sacral. That is why I support to exclude a third party and reach an agreement among the two sides it concerns,” Friedman said.

However, he noted the issue remains because both Kosovo and Serbia want to blame the third party for solution and inevitable concessions that must be made.

He noted Kosovo had historic importance to the USA, but it is no longer important matter to them. He also thinks the USA would not oppose any idea, including change of borders, if that would lead toward stability and peace in the region, Danas daily reported.
