Creation of Kosovo army is yet another wall of mistrust between Serbs and Albanians, journalist Zivojin Rakocevic told RTV KIM. “The fear is the same as in 1998 and in 1999 from KLA which has now became legalized,” Rakocevic added.

Adoption of three draft laws in the Kosovo Assembly on transformation of Kosovo Security Forces into army caused concern among the Serbs, in particular those living south of the Ibar River. Serbs believe Kosovo does not need new armed formation, since KFOR is there to take care of security. That is why, Kosovo army is a complete nonsense, Rakocevic believes.

“All wars for Kosovo are won by NATO and others. This is just an illusion serving to deceive internal public in Kosovo that by forming the army Kosovo would be able to defend itself and would gain more independence. On the contrary, by forming the army, costs would increase, fear would increase as well as the absolute power of Hashim Thaci, while war structures are trying to legalize their romantic dreams from the 1999 conflict,” Rakocevic noted.

According to him, “forming of Kosovo army is a way to suicide of local population,” which is being offered an illusion that they decide about something, while in fact the army would serve to additionally control all leverages of power in Kosovo.

Speaking about fear of the Serbian population of that army, Rakocevic said that “the fear exists because the heart of this structure is founded on crime, and the heart of this structure is directed against Serbs, against places where they live now, their cultural achievements and spiritualty, and simple there is no trust at all in it.”

Major part of KSF members are Albanians. There are members of other nationalities among them, including the Serbs. However, this year several dozens of Serbs left this formation.

“There are people, who from different reasons, mostly impoverished, who have no other choice accept to earn for the piece of bread this way. That is most probably the hardest piece of bread Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija are eating. This is a huge burden pressing the shoulders of these people. Also, one should not forget there is a very strange and complex relations sometimes developed between the victims and their executioners,” Rakocevic told RTV KIM.
