The Pristina-based Council for the Defense of Human Rights and Freedoms (CDHRF) has reacted to a statement by Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, who called for the closing of FETO schools in Kosovo and the deportation to Turkey of all those who according to him contributed to the coup d’état attempt in Turkey. CDHRF said the statement constitutes a serious interference in Kosovo’s internal affairs and that it goes against human rights, all international and national documents that guarantee shelter for politically prosecuted persons. “If it is true, the request by the Turkish Foreign Minister represents a serious interference in the internal affairs of an independent and sovereign country and as such it should have been immediately rejected, not allowing the Turkish Minister to make a request which … The Council also calls for all those that contributed to the abduction of Turkish nationals to be brought to justice, an investigation into the role of the management of the International Airport and for Kosovo to maintain a neutral role in the Gulen – Erdogan conflict,” a CDHRF statement noted.
