Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo Enver Hoxhaj said Kosovo people will not be able to travel this year without visas to the European Union.
Hoxhaj said that while Kosovo has fulfilled all the criteria, it would have been fair if the EU made the decision for visa liberalization for Kosovo within this year.
“What we expect this year is a political decision, of course it will not be possible for Kosovo citizens to travel in 2018 without visas, but we expect a political decision, which clarifies when could we travel without visas in 2019. Kosovo has fulfilled all the possible criteria. We were told that the process is technical, not political and that if we commence our duties, Kosovo will be rewarded at the end of the process,” Hoxhaj said.
He added further that Kosovo institutions and political parties should all make it clear that lack of visa liberalization would have been a major injustice for Kosovo by the EU.
