The European Parliament Rapporteur for Kosovo Igor Soltes, said “it should not be allowed to apply apartheid with visas for Kosovo.” He said he does not know the reasons why some EU countries refuse to agree on liberlaisation of visas for Kosovo citizens. His comments come after increase of skeptical voices within the EU for liberlaisation of visas for Kosovo.
“There is no doubt that there is still time to convince member states on the importance of guaranteeing Kosovo and its citizens the possibility of visa liberlisation,” Soltes said.
“This is necessary as it was also part of the conditions that the EU requested from Kosovo and which have been fulfilled by its side,” he added.
“The ongoing process, which was initially endorsed by the European Commission and European Parliament, remains now to be concluded by the Council of Ministers.”
Kosovo has had the biggest number of the criteria in order to be included in the Schengen Zone.
