A group of EU member states have expressed “great skepticism” regarding the approval of visa liberalization for Kosovo. Only two countries supported the entry of Kosovo into the Schengen area, B92 reports.

This is written in a report by the Kosovo Foreign Ministry which daily Koha Ditore said it had seen. This report was made after a meeting held this month with representatives of the 17 EU member states.

The report contains the position of each state in relation to Kosovo, and according to this document, concerns mainly relate to illegal migration and failure to meet expectations regarding the reforms that Kosovo was supposed to meet.

“The meeting was held with the representatives of 17-member states, of whom only Bulgaria and Hungary reacted positively and supported the visa liberalization in Kosovo. Other countries have expressed indecision or concern over various aspects related to the conditions and the expected reforms,” the report said.

The report contains the position of each country on this issue, with reforms and illegal migration are the most often cited as concerns.

According to the document, only Bulgaria and Hungary have taken a clear positive and supporting stance on visa liberalization.
