Kosovo’s Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj took to Facebook this morning to say that the arrests in the north are not related to any political development, several news websites report. Haradinaj called on citizens, political parties and mayors of municipalities, especially those in the north, to contribute to public order. Haradinaj wrote: “Today, following the order of the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, a police operation was carried out in northern Kosovo related to the arrest of several suspects for the murder of politician Oliver Ivanovic. This police operation is in full compliance with the law, in line with the order of the Special Prosecution, and is not related to any political development. I want to assure all citizens that the state of Kosovo and its law enforcement authorities will never and in no way be oriented against a certain ethnic or political group. I call on citizens, political parties, mayors of municipalities, especially those in the north, and other mechanisms, to contribute to maintaining and advancing public order in the service of peace and stability. It is important that no one falls prey to different misinformation. Maintaining order and respecting the law is in the interest of all citizens in Kosovo”.
