Kosovo Assembly President, Kadri Veseli, told a press conference in Pristina today, that the recent actions by Kosovo’s authorities are aimed at stopping the destructive approach of Serbia’s leaders vis-à-vis Kosovo. Veseli said the decisions of the state of Kosovo are legitimate, legal and transparent and should in no way be interpreted as decisions aimed against a certain community. “The Republic of Serbia, its leadership, must understand that the policy of hatred, blockade and provocation against Kosovo is threatening stability in the region. This goes against the spirit of dialogue. This policy does not help coexistence between Albanians, Serbs and other communities in Kosovo. The time has come for such provocations to stop,” he said. Veseli added that Kosovo would not allow actions that may cause insecurity or instability in the country. “We will not allow Kosovo’s sovereignty or territorial integrity to be violated. We will not allow actions that threaten Albanians, Serbs and other communities in the northern part of the country. We will not allow actions that threaten our Serb citizens wherever they live in Kosovo,” he added. Veseli called on all citizens to have faith in Kosovo’s institutions and not to fall prey to provocations and hate speech. “Kosovo is committed to resolve problems with Serbia in constructive fashion, through dialogue and understanding. But this does not mean that we will indefinitely tolerate destructive aims toward our country or efforts to create tensions in Kosovo. The future of Kosovo and the whole region is integration in the European Union. The Republic of Kosovo is engaged to guarantee stability and rule of law in every part of its territory. The state of Kosovo will fully respect its international obligations. Kosovo’s institutions will function and operate in full compliance with the Constitution of Kosovo and the legislation in power”.
