Gender-based violence is considered a disturbing phenomenon in Kosovo and it is widely spread in different communities and different social levels. A documentary produced by the United Nations Office in Kosovo (UNMIK) reveals stories of women who have experienced domestic violence. Besa Domi who worked on the documentary said they tried to show that the phenomenon of gender-based violence affects all communities. “It was not easy at all because we have women that publicly spoke for the first time. We focused on including all communities. It is an issue that does not affect only particular communities; it affects all women, regardless of their ethnicity or educational standing,” Domi said. She added that “it is important for men to get involved in this process because we risk going around in a circle and not do anything about the problem.”
