KFOR Spokesperson Vincenzo Grasso said delivery of 24 armored vehicles “Humvee” for the needs of Kosovo Security Forces “does not represent a threat” adding there are no indicators that any military action could occur in the territory of Kosovo.
RTK2 published the news two days ago, saying that highly mobile and multipurpose armored military vehicles arrived from USA in Kosovo.
Grasso said the armored vehicles are intended to transport personnel and claims “there are no reasons for fear and concern.”
He also noted the delivery of armored vehicles was a result of a bilateral agreement between Pristina and Washington and it has nothing to do with KFOR.
“The agreement was signed in July this year, it was widely publicized, and everybody was aware of it,” Grasso said.
Asked if KFOR is ready to protect the Serbs, in case an attack against them happens, Grasso responded “there are not reasons for fear and concern.”
“KFOR is in Kosovo in line with UN SC Resolution 1244 and provides safe and secure environment for all citizens, since 1999. We are fully committed to our mandate, and KFOR will continue protecting all people in Kosovo, as well as to guarantee the peace and stability.”
He added “there are no indicators” that events similar to that from 2004 could happen again, RTS reported.
