Shpend Ahmeti, co-head of the Kosovo Negotiating Team for Dialogue with Serbia, said today that the platform on dialogue which they are working on will not be ready before Friday. He said that in a meeting with Kosovo institutional leaders today they discussed the platform as well as the recent letter the U.S. administration sent to Kosovo asking it to suspend the import tariff on Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina or risk deterioration of relations. “We have reviewed the platform word by word. We will meet today once again to see how pleased we are. We will not forward it without being certain each word is right. Our main goal is mutual recognition,” Ahmeti said. With regards to the import tax, Ahmeti called on political leaders to come up with a unified position on the future of the tax but warned that the Kosovo-U.S. relations have reached a serious point. “This is a decision of the government [but] we should not leave the prime minister alone in these national issues,” Ahmeti said after the meeting. Zeri further quotes Ahmeti as saying that the platform will not include the border correction option. “Absolutely not,” Ahmeti said adding: “There is no surprise in the platform that we are completing. We remain faithful to the Constitution which is also the mandate of this team.”
