The U.S. Congressman Eliot Engel said Kosovo should get something in exchange for making positive steps. Speaking to reporters from Brussels, Engel recalled that Kosovo was promised visa liberalisation after ratification of the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro. “This has not happened yet and it is frustrating,” Engel said. “If Kosovo sees that it gains something positive by making positive steps, this would then not be a problem. The problem is they don’t see they’re gaining anything,” he added. Engel also said Serbia should change its approach to Kosovo and not prevent it from joining international organisations like UNESCO and Interpol and to stop lobbying against recognition of Kosovo’s independence. The U.S. congressman said he hoped leaders in Kosovo and Serbia will come out with a plan to move forward.
