Serbian Foreign Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic said on Wednesday that delineation with Kosovo was not an official proposal but an idea among some of the state leaders, thus correcting the statement he made one day earlier saying that delineation with Kosovo is Serbia’s official proposal to resolve the Kosovo issue, BETA news agency reported.
Dacic said if the idea would become the official proposal it would be presented to the National Assembly, while the citizens would have a final word on it, in a referendum.
He noted he was in favor of delineation, that President Aleksandar Vucic spoke about it last year, adding “it is not something that is whispering about or discussed in secret meetings.” Dacic also urged those who have different ideas to come forward and suggest them.
“In the dialogue with Pristina (on normalization of relations) which is on hold, that issue has not been discussed, but we are open for other suggestions and compromises. But, have you heard any other proposal?” Dacic told reporters.
He added it was interesting that along with Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, Serbian opposition parties are against the idea on delineation, including Dveri Movement, Peoples’ Party leader Vuk Jeremic, Sanda Raskovic-Ivic and some analysts.
Dacic said the previous authorities left behind the Constitution with a preamble stating that Kosovo is part of Serbia, while during their rule Kosovo declared independence. “What did they do? Did they declare occupation of the country or move the army?” Dacic asked.
Commenting on latest Kosovo attempt to become a member of Interpol, after it failed to join the organization in November last year, Dacic said that he “doesn’t understand this Kosovo suicidal act. They will lose even with a greater majority,” he said, adding that Serbia is preparing for that battle.
