The President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci held today a joint meeting with the principal Director for European Affairs at the U.S. National Security Council, John Erath, and the Balkans Director of the U.S. National Security Council, Brad Berkley, and the Negotiating Team of Kosovo, respectively with Deputy Prime Ministers Behgjet Pacolli, Fatmir Limaj, Enver Hoxhaj, Dardan Gashi and the leader of the Social-Democratic Party Shpend Ahmeti.

According to the President’s Information Office, they discussed the process of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, preparations of this process and overcoming of current technical obstacles, including the U.S.’s advice for the necessity of the temporary suspension of the tax and resumption of the dialogue, as well as increase of efforts to reach a comprehensive agreement.

It was a joint conclusion that the agreement should be final and with mutual recognition. “President Thaci also reiterated at today’s meeting that Republic of Kosovo will not under any condition or circumstances risk inter-state and special relations with the U.S.” is stressed in the press release.

It was also noted that all members of the Negotiating Team have expressed concern about Belgrade’s aggressive actions, but at the same time, they expressed their readiness to respect the U.S. advise to suspend the tax and ressume the dialogue in Brussels.
