Movement for Unification calls on protesters and celebrators to show self-restraint (Koha)
The Movement for Unification (LB), a partner in the ruling coalition, issued a media communiqué today calling on all Kosovo citizens to refrain from putting themselves in dangerous situations on Friday when the Assembly will elect the new President of Kosovo. “The situation can become tense and get out of control on Friday, when the Kosovo Assembly is scheduled to vote for the new President of Kosovo … On the same day and at the same place, the opposition and the PDK [Democratic Party of Kosovo] have announced their activities. The opposition has announced a protest rejecting the election, whereas the PDK has announced it will celebrate Hashim Thaci’s election as President of Kosovo. This could constitute a great threat for Kosovo and its people. Therefore, the Movement for Unification calls on all political leaders to maintain the highest standards of duty and to prevent any unnecessary bloodshed. The Movement for Unification calls on all citizens to be very careful and not fall prey to any party. The Movement for Unification calls on the Kosovo Police to maintain law and order and calls on the people not to take sides. The Movement for Unification also calls on both sides to reconsider holding activities at the same place and at the same time. The least they can do is to conduct their activities in different locations far from one another,” the LB communiqué said.
