Coalition partners condemn fire-setting to car owned by LDK MP Beqiri (Koha)

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has strongly condemned the setting alight of the car owned by the party’s head of parliamentary group Ismet Beqiri. “This low criminal act is an attack directed at the institutions, legitimate representatives and against the democratic functioning of the Republic of Kosovo,” the LDK said in a statement. The party said the incident took place against the backdrop of “criminal acts that have recently been carried out inside and outside the institutions” and is aimed at plunging Kosovo into “chaos and anarchy.” LDK’s coalition partner, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), also condemned the attack saying it is part of political intimidation and seeks to create insecurity among the people of Kosovo. “Violence, threats, and intimidation are anti-democratic, anarchic methods and as such are absolutely unacceptable,” PDK said in a statement to the press. It added that political goals can only be achieved through democratic processes and respect for law. “Who thinks otherwise, is in for a disappointment,” PDK said.
